Thoughts of You

Sitting on the bed, she stared across the room at him. His blue eyes filled with hurt and heartbreak.

His eyes tore through her. She could see his heart shattering on the inside. Her words had done all the damage that she was only trying to protect him from.

Thinking she was ready to love him and give him everything and she was wrong. Letting him in isn't something she could force.

All the hope, happiness and butterflies she had given him, she tore away in an instant, taking his heart with one quick jerk.

Loved him she did, but be with him she couldn't.

When she looked into his eyes, she saw herself in him. All the things she used to be that had faded away and been destroyed so many times before.

Another time, another place and her eyes will meet his and she'll let him in, but for now she can enjoy the memory of his smile. That's enough for now.
